在醫療科技領域的創新發展、複雜的新療法、越來越高的醫院及品質管理要求、以及對新知識追求的渴望等因素的激發之下，對進階訓練的需求也就應運而生持續增加。

雅氏學苑(Aesculap Academy)以提供手術室、麻醉、病房、居家護理以及醫院管理等各方面的訓練課程來回應醫護人員的需求，素來在全球享有醫療訓練的領導論壇之名。課程內容及其方式極為廣泛，包括了實作練習、管理講座以及國際座談會等。

為了提供獸醫師在動物手術上進修的機會，德國Aesculap Academy總部規劃了一個『小動物手術研習課程』於7月19-20日假德國Tuttlingen的Aesculap Academy訓練中心舉行。

課程內容從基礎的器械介紹與操作、縫合線介紹與各種組織部位縫合技巧，到小動物常見的一般手術、腹腔手術之研討與操作。在兩天的課程中，由3位德國獸醫師演講同時也帶學員們有密集的操作練習。
