Rodney worked for CSL (an Australian vaccine
and blood products manufacturer) for 16
years. The last four years at CSL he was
head of Influenza Vaccine research and
development. This position involved
developing and implementing improvements to
the vaccine manufacturing process including
validation of new methodology and submission
of documentation to the National Regulatory
Authority (TGA). Due to the changing nature
of the Influenza virus the preparation of
new seed lots and reference reagents for
quality control and lot release testing were
required on an annual basis.
At CSL Rodney also spent time in the virus
testing section of Quality Control and was
involved in testing of human and veterinary
viral vaccines as well as serum products for
potency, both in vitro and in vivo.
After leaving CSL he joined Sartorius
Australia as a technical representative
involved in filtration sales. He was later
promoted to technical manager and worked
with vaccine and pharmaceutical companies in
Australia and Asia helping to develop
downstream processes and optimizing
filtration systems. Rodney also provided
critical support in the validation of
numerous filtration systems with key account
customers.
Rodney joined the International Vaccine
Institute (IVI) in Seoul Korea in June 2003
as senior scientist in charge of process
development. Since joining IVI he has been
involved in vaccine technology transfer and
has worked closely with Cholera and Typhoid
vaccine manufacturers in the Asia Pacific
region. Rodney is currently head of Vaccine
Development at IVI and manages the in house
development of a novel Shigella vaccine and
a Vi typhoid conjugate vaccine. |
